KNOW YOUR BRIEF

The first, and most important, tip we have or like to discuss with our clients is knowing what the project brief is. Are you renovating to a budget? Or is this your forever home? Is the house going to be rented or flipped in 5 years? Answering these questions first will make the rest of the process easy. And it’s likely to help you only spend what you need when it comes to making selections - and not over capitalise.

WORK WITH THE PIPES

To save a significant amount of money when renovating a bathroom or ensuite, work with the current layout for toilet and water outlets. Moving these around means going deeper into a renovation and having to add the additional costs of more trades, time and finishes.

WHITE ALWAYS WORKS

White wall tiles will never go out of fashion. Therefore, resurfacing wall tiles – whatever the colour – to gloss white, not only gives you a fresh look to work from, it also saves you money, by eliminating the process of ripping the original tiles out.

CONSIDER SMALL UPDATES INSTEAD

It doesn’t always have to be the big things. Updating your accessories, such as vanity, shower screen and tapware, won't cost you the earth, but it will give you maximum impact on the overall look and feel of the space.

EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR MAKEOVER

A neutral palette is a safe way to give your bathroom revamp an extended life, before it looks dated. Add colour and texture with towels and plants.

PAINT IT YOURSELF

Save money and tackle the painting of the wall and ceiling yourself. It won't take longer than a weekend, and you will feel a sense of achievement by rolling up your sleeves and getting involved. Plus, it keeps more money in your pocket.
